All Over The Net - Radio Is Big

Ten years ago it was unheard of. Five years ago, lots of people did it. Today, it is one of the drivers of our new media and new network outlook.

I'm talking about internet radio - streams of news, talk, music, and more delivered via your high speed internet connection.

I guess I should have read those occasional e-mails over the years, because when I began to put together this page I discovered that my long time ( nine years that I can think of ) source of radio via the internet information was now a part of Microsoft, and it's ever growing content operations.  Long ago, the source was an individual long forgotten who researched and provided this information as a labor of love.

In the old days, I would look up different broadcast radio stations all over the country, stations that also offered streaming music over the internet. This was something new at the time. Nowadays, just about every radio station out there offers an internet stream.

I would look for stations with formats I enjoyed, and then take advantage of time zone differences to have a better chance of hearing more of the kind of music I really liked. You know how it is in broadcast radio. Sometimes the evening and overnight jocks are given a bit more latitude in how and what they play. 

In the old days, there were also a very few internet only broadcasters. Today there are hundreds, maybe thousands.

I now listen to internet radio almost exclusively in the office, at home, or even in coffee shops when I travel ( Wearing headphones of course. It never hurts to be considerate of your fellow coffee shop patrons )
