Jepson Brandy - Hand Crafted, Excellent

Jepson calls itself the sole producer of estate still wines, champagnes and brandies in North America. Jepson's philosophy has been to produce wines and brandies that are carefully selected to match the terroir of the estate vineyards, each meticulously crafted to reflect its estate heritage and origin. They further state that of utmost importance to their success as a winery are its estate vineyards. It is where Jepson's distinct style begins. Jepson's Vineyard Manager and Winemaker transform each harvest into an award winning release.

Well, being an ordinary guy, I don't know enough to comment. I do know that when my travels take me t the Ukiah, CA area, I try to make it a point to stop in at the Jepson Estate and pick up a bottle or two of their most excellent brandy.

Jepson distills three brandies, what they call Rare, Old Stock, and Signature Reserve. All three are excellent. All three are reasonably priced for their class. ( Neighborhood $35, $50, and $100, depending upon where you buy. ) All are distilled in the alambic style. All are made 100% from estate grown French colombard grapes, giving Jepson brandies a more earthy taste than that of competitors who build their products around the pinot noir grape.
