Music To Soothe The Savage Breast
This page is turning out to be the most difficult to write of all the pages on the Life Is Leisure website. Music is so personal, the experience so different for each of us.
For example, over the years I have found that the music that means the most to me is music to which I can put a picture. Those pictures can vary greatly in content and mood, but the picture solidifies the music into my soul.
Some examples? Birds, by Neil Young. My visual is of a breakup of a long and otherwise great relationship, the couple standing, talking, in a park in the fall, as the nestlings leave, and the parents instinctively understand the time of change is here. The Bach Partitas and Sonatas for Violin. I have a very intense and private picture of a violinist standing alone in the middle of a darkened room, spotlight on him, playing his instrument, evoking the greatness of Bach to those listening from the shadows that surround him. Easy Money by King Crimson. A very complex vision of the evolution of the guitarist into the artist, the guitarist, the player, too difficult to describe in a few words, but one which once upon a time I believed would make a fantastic MTV kind of music video. These are but a few of a multitude.
So here I am, making a humble attempt to interest you in music and musical services I have found of interest. I make no claim to be comprehensive. The field is way to large. Instead, I invite those who love music and love to explore music to spend a moment or two here. Perhaps you will find something you like. Perhaps you will bookmark this page and return once in a while to see what's new. Perhaps I will help you to broaden your musical horizons. Perhaps not. Perhaps you will recommend us to a friend. Or not.
Whatever the outcome, I appreciate your stopping by, and I hope you'll return sometime.
